September Program: Whittier Narrows Habitat Update

Program Topic

Kathleen Barry, Whittier Area Audubon’s Conservation Chair, will talk about the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers project on the Whittier Narrows Dam Safety Modification.

Kathleen Barry is a Family Physician who practiced in Whittier until her recent retirement. 

She has been a member of the Whittier Area Audubon since 1991. She has served on the Board of Directors for many years and is currently the Conservation Chair. She has represented Whittier Area Audubon's interests and concerns regarding the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers project on the Whittier Narrows Dam Safety Modification since late 2021. The USACE has created a new 105 acre habitat in the Whittier Narrows Natural Area. WAAS members have been actively involved in supporting this new habitat and Dr. Barry will talk about this project and restored habitat.

  • Parking: Parking is available in their parking area behind the church and along Washington Ave.
